Spirit of 76 SS
The Spirit of 76 by Gottlieb is one of the worlds favourite machines. Made in 1975 for the 1976 bicentennial celebrations in the US, the game features a theme that on the left represents the pioneers of the untamed USA and on the right the pioneers of the space age. America had indeed come a long way in 200 years and David Gottlieb & Co. celebrated in style.
Of the 10,569 units produced very few remain in good working order. A game that plays this well will be played a lot and wear and tear will take its toll. If you find one in South Africa chances are it will need constant maintenance.
The solid state version made exclusively by us has none of the maintenance issues. Our solid state electronics gives you a machine with the original game rules without any of the EM maintenance issues.

Upper Playfield
Upper Playfield seen here shows the custom graphics created for the top arch that is just a plain white plate as it came off the factory line at Gottlieb. Ed Krynski designed a playfield with a deceptively simple looking playfield that provided a game that challenges players to this day.

Lower Playfield
Lower Playfield seen here shows the apron detail. Rule cards are not used as the rules are printed directly to the apron with graphics that match the colours used on the playfield, the backglass as well as the cabinet. Gordon Morisson provided an eye catching graphics package to suite the theme.

Backglass
The custom backglass gives 6 digit scoring and provides space between the score windows to incorporate a Saturn V rocket as homage to the 2 player version called Pioneer.

New Playfields
Our playfields are made from 12mm Baltic Birch plywood. Colours are applied directly to the wood and then coated with a hard wearing water clear urethane coat. Playfields are also sold separately.
